Maintenance Windows

Maintenance windows at Maintenance suppress alerting for planned work: rebooting a tower radio, swapping a router, firmware night. Alerts still record during a window; when the window ends, an alert whose condition still holds is delivered then.

Creating a window

  • Scope picks what the window covers: the whole organization, one site, or a single device. A site window covers every device on it; a device window covers only the one you pick in the device search.
  • Starts At and Ends At bound the suppression, both are required, and the Recurring checkbox repeats the window for regular maintenance.
  • The filter tabs split All, Active, Upcoming and Past windows so the current maintenance and the upcoming one never blur.

What a window does

  • Alerts that fire inside a window record as suppressed and show the maintenance icon on the Alerts board, silent while the window is live and delivered when it ends if the condition still holds.
  • Escalation does not start while the window is live, so on-call is not paged for the reboot you already know about; if the device is still down at the end, the alert pages then.
  • Ending a window early resumes normal alerting immediately; there is no drain period.
